ANTI Is Not A Platform

“ANTI is not a platform. It’s easy to rally against something, to define yourself by what you reject rather than what you create. But opposition alone has no architecture. It tears down without building up.”

- Nicole Daedone

I LOVE this quote from my friend Nicole.
I, too, have been making this argument for years.

Being “ANTI” is one of the ways we’ve gone sideways—and spiraled downward—as a society over the past half-decade.

There we are as a collective, standing ”AGAINST” so very much.
Standing AGAINST the various isms and schisms of our day.
With few truly tenable or visionary solutions being presented.

I’m talking about win-win solutions.
Solutions we can build a viable future upon.
A future of harmony and interconnectivity.
A sound, healed future.

Not just a turning of tables…
Or a rearranging of the deck chairs on the Titanic.

I’m with Nicole, adamant that we must establish what we’re FOR…
And enthusiastically make that our platform.
That’s what I’m FOR!!

Add to that, the ideology rooted in “ANTI” is the epitome of black/white thinking.
And nothing is actually black or white.

Everything has paradox and contradiction embedded at its core.
Even if we can’t see that from where we happen to be standing.

The ANTI folk do their darndest to convince us that we’re either for or against a given issue… that we’re either part of the problem or part of the solution.

But that’s actually a mind-fu@k. It’s patently untrue. Because nothing breaks down that neatly.

If we embrace the ideology of ANTI, we land in the oversimplified thinking that we’re either on the side of right or the side of wrong.

We’re lured into wanting to be right and righteous, but in a way that’s not thoroughly examined.

We come to assume we’re right.
We virtue signal to get points for being right.

Meanwhile, ANTI has dumbed us down, in its attempt to make us smarter and wiser.
For life is nuanced.
Issues are layered and complicated.

We will NEVER resolve our social problems if we are averse to addressing the complexities at the heart of those problems.

We have to get more willing to unravel the mutual misunderstandings—yes, these exist on both sides of any issue—that lie at the heart of those problems.

We will never solve our social problems if we don’t role-model the change…
BE THE LIVING EMBODIMENT of that which we say we stand FOR.
Aka, *be the change* we wish to see in the world.

Love + Oneness,
Naomi
