Freedom Starts From Within

We say we want to be free.
From the walls we sense but just can’t see.

We want to experience less anxiety.
We want our nervous system to function optimally.
We want our very souls to heave a sigh of relief.

One key way to facilitate that is to set ourselves free…
From the prison of our minds.
Our minds so imprisoned in black or white thinking.

Without our even having any idea of it…
We adhere to either/or…
we/they…
right/wrong…
good/bad.

We oversimplify.
We reduce things to a lowest common denominator.

We smother the details.
Suffocate the nuance.
Snuff out the fine points.
Ignore the truth itself.

It’s the truth we’re ignoring that will ultimately set us free.

Seeing over-narrowly, we miss a whole vista.
Seeing through a limited lens, we miss the bigger picture.

We become a tree unaware of the forest.
A fish with no idea it’s in water.

And yet the freedom we wish for…
the quality of life we wish for…
would require waking up to the presence of the water…
the fact of the forest.

If we want to be free…

We must spring ourselves from the prison of thinking dualistically.
Binaristically.
Divisively.

It’s a trap we’re so used to, we don’t even know we’re in a trap.

Our beliefs and viewpoints seem so correct…
sound… warranted.
Even if they aren’t.
Even if they’re distorted and off the mark.

We readily think we’re right…
and others wrong.
Without ever questioning our own beliefs.

Are we actually right?
Are we sure?
Do we truly know?
Have we questioned, examined, what we take as a given?

For therein lies our freedom.
Freedom from ourselves.
Freedom from the habit of being ourselves.

Liberation from the prison of being who we are.
Evolution beyond the unexamined self.
And the unexamined life.

Seeing the prison to begin with.
And springing ourselves from it.
A bona fide emancipation.

Expansion. Elevation.
Awakening. Ascension.

Into more.
Into wholeness.
Into interconnectivity consciousness.

Interconnectivity is the cure for what ails us.
Oneness is the cure for what ails us.
Oneness with ourselves.

Rather than being separate from…
Rather than being “at odds”…
Rather than being in resistance to…
Opposed to…
Against…
Up in arms.
